Mission

The mission of St. Gregory the Great Academy is to provide children with a thorough Catholic education founded on traditional values. Through our rigorous curriculum, students will develop skills in collaboration, critical thinking, and communication. These skills will form good Catholic citizens for service of family, country, and the restoration of all things in Christ.

Vision

The vision statement of St. Gregory the Great Academy is to prepare Catholic students with the necessary skills to serve God, country, and family.

Academics

The academic program was crafted by the members of the faculty of the Academy.  It has been assembled from a variety of sources to provide our students with the most faithful and most solid educational materials available.  We have incorporated elements of the Classical education movement to ensure that our students are firmly grounded in the culture of Western Civilization while at the same time preparing them with the educational expectations of the world as it is today.

Sprituality

The spirituality of St. Gregory the Great Academy is inspired by our namesake.  St. Gregory the Great, one of the Four Great Latin Doctors of the Church, was famous for his deep scholarship in matters both doctrinal and liturgical.  To this day, he is venerated as the patron of teachers, students, and musicians.  Much of his development can be attributed to the monastic life he lived prior to entering into the Pope's service.  The Rule of Saint Benedict formed the basis of the monastery that he founded on his family lands.  St. Benedict's motto of Ora et labora, or "Prayer and work" can be seen throughout his impactful career.  When choosing men to send to evangelize the pagan conquerors of Britain, he specifically choose Benedictine monks.

This devotion of St. Gregory to the liturgy of the Church and the teachings of St. Benedict have formed our approach to the Academy which we've placed under his patronage.  We strive to embody St. Benedict's Ora et labora motto in our daily schedule.  Every school morning begins with Prime, shortly before our classes commence.  The older students will gather together mid-morning to chant Terce, the third hour of the day.  After lunch, the Angelus and Sext are chanted before a short break and the resumption of classes.  And finally, the afternoon hour of None is chanted before the final period of the day.  In this way, faculty and students alike call down God's grace on our efforts at the Academy to strive together for both excellence and sanctity, suffusing our common life together with the Liturgy of the Church.
